On Friday, October 17, 2008, students from Salem College organized an event called "Rock the Congo". The organization sponsoring the event is called S.A.M., Student Activists Movement. This event had rock bands and poets coming together to break the silence on the ongoing sexual violence the women in the Congo are enduring. Mr. Kambale Musavuli was the guest speaker during the concert. He reminded the students at Salem college to participate in the Cell Phone boycott scheduled for Wednesday October 22nd from 12 pm to 6 pm.He explained the students there how much their help is needed to break the silence by contacting their legislators. SAM encouraged the students to sign the petition for the International Violence Against Women Act and donate funds for the Panzi hospital in Bukavu.
