In the democratic republic of Congo, aswell as many regions in Africa the majority of people live in villages on the country.
To strengthen the communities living there, the initiative GOVA (Association of Villages’ Organization of Self-Development) came to life. Their priorities are self determination aswell as panafricanism.

The film 'Mabele Na Biso' takes us to the democratic republic Congo, to Isangi in the province Tshopo. There citizens have built a self sufficient community. The way that it is based on a society managing their own resources it’s supposed to also be an example for other regions.

Collectively we want to adress what self determination and independence mean in a globalized world.

We will get a local perspective on the role of western development aid- and how to build sustainable self determination and autonomy.
