The Democratic Republic of Congo continues to face persistent challenges related to peace, security, and human rights. Despite United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1325, 2250, and 2773, as well as other international commitments, women and youth remain systematically underrepresented in peace processes. It is imperative that their voices and experiences are not
only included but valued in all peacebuilding initiatives.
The inclusion of women in the peace processes of the DRC is not only a matter of social justice, but also a legal and pragmatic necessity for building sustainable peace. These women bring solutions, visions, and lived experiences that must be recognized in order to achieve a just and inclusive peace.
The October 21st forum will highlight the demands of Congolese women leaders for inclusion and justice in the Washington Peace Agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
