The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) sits at the forefront of the climate emergency and the green energy transition. Congo produces 70% of the world's cobalt which is vital to the Clean Energy transition. The production of cobalt has been devastating for Congolese women and children who work in the mines as artisinal miners. The speakers will share what is unfolding on the frontlines in Congo's mines and also discuss actions that being pursued outside of the Congo such as the lawsuit being levied by International Rights Advocates against major US tech and auto companies.
The event is being hosted by the University of Connecticut Law School students and faculty.
