(Hybrid: Virtual and In Person)

Location: Princeton University

Our three-member panel will explore how violence against women operates both differently and similarly across various multicultural, economic, and political systems. By hosting speakers from Ukraine, Myanmar, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, we hope to bridge the disparate discussions on gendered and sexual violence across the globe by highlighting the paralleled systems and social dynamics that enable this violence. This cross-continental, comparative lens is underrepresented in Princeton coursework and extracurricular programming, further distinguishing our event. Our topic is particularly pertinent given the escalating crises of sexual violence, hunger, and poverty in the countries to be examined. To ground this discussion in a necessary historical context and facilitate attendee discussion, we will host three experts on the gendered impacts of this violence.
